Joint Providership Resource Center
Joint Providership (JP) is the term used to describe the providership of a CME activity by an accredited provider (like the FMA) and an unaccredited organization. This JP process enables unaccredited organizations to participate in the planning and implementation of an educational activity approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. The accredited provider must take full responsibility for a CME activity presented in cooperation with a non-accredited organization.
For some organizations, JP is the first step in becoming an accredited provider as the FMA mentors an unaccredited group through the steps to establish the necessary framework for an independently accredited CME Program and build a track record of offering CME.
The FMA also offers JP to those organizations that do not wish to become accredited, either because they offer a very limited number of activities and/or have limited resources and personnel available to support their educational offerings.
In either case, the FMA will only consider entering into joint providership agreements with Florida-based organizations whose mission is in alignment with and supports the FMA CME Mission Statement. In addition, potential partners must agree to meet the Accreditation Criteria and policies of the FMA and its accreditor, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). One final restriction: the FMA only jointly provides educational activities offered via a LIVE (in-person or livestream) format – generally grand-rounds style presentations, courses, conferences, and regularly scheduled series (RSS) like Tumor Boards. The FMA does not jointly provide recorded webinars, online CME and other electronic/non-live events.
The FMA JP application fee for an activity is based on the total number of credits offered and when the application materials are received in relation to the activity date.
