The good news for Florida is that the UF Health Shands Transplant Center boasts patient outcomes in the nation’s top 10%. This webinar, presented by Thiago Beduschi, MD, Director of the UF Health Abdominal Transplant Program, will highlight the remarkable work being done at UF Health to achieve top rankings for multiple transplant programs, most notably its liver transplant program.

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe strategies that UF Health Shands has employed to achieve the best outcomes for patients

About The Presenter

Thiago Beduschi, MD

Dr. Thiago Beduschi currently serves as chief of the University of Florida Division of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery and director of the UF Health Abdominal Transplant Program. Under Dr. Beduschi ‘s guidance, the Abdominal Transplant Program has become one of the busiest programs in the world and one of the lowest mortality rates for individuals waiting on a liver transplant.

Dr. Beduschi attended medical school and completed a general surgery residency at the Lutheran University of Brazil in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. He then relocated to San Paulo to complete a liver transplant fellowship in the liver unit at Albert Einstein Hospital and then to Indianapolis to pursue additional training in transplantation, completing an abdominal multi-organ transplant surgery fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine. While at Indiana University, he also completed an advanced fellowship in intestinal and multivisceral transplantation and studied genetically modified pigs in the IU Xenotransplantation Research Lab.

Prior to joining UF Health, he served as director of the living donor liver transplant program and transplant critical care fellowship program at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. There, he developed the hospital’s intestinal rehabilitation program and played a pivotal role in the development of the Miami Transplant Institute’s intestinal and multivisceral transplant program.

The FMA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

  1. Event reminder emails will be sent from Florida Medical Association (customercare@gotowebinar.com), which will include a JOIN WEBINAR link, one week, one day, and one hour before the event begins.

  1. Go to www.flmedical.org. At the top of the page, click on Profile. Sign in with your username (email) and password.
  2. Under the Profile Menu header, locate the blue section containing profile options. Click the orange Event Access/Claim CME tab. (example shown above)
  3. Click the Access Webinar link listed next to the webinar title.
  4. Slides and/or supporting documents will be provided in the handouts section of the webinar, if available.

Post-Event:

  1. Go to www.flmedical.org. At the top of the page, click on Profile. Sign in with your username (email) and password.
  2. Under the Profile Menu header, locate the blue section containing profile options. Click the orange Event Access/Claim CME tab. (example shown above)
  3. Access to the recording will be available within 24 hours of the event conclusion until Sunday, October 12 and then in the members-only webinar library.
  4. Course Handouts link for slides and/or supporting documents will be listed next to the event, if available.

Claiming CME Credit:

  1. Log in to your FMA account profile and click the CME Event Access/Claim Credit tab in the blue menu (example shown above)
  2. Click the event's Claim CME Credit hyperlink
  3. All CME credits will be reported on your behalf to CE Broker by Friday, October 17 after the October 12 deadline.
  4. NEW FEATURE - CME Certificates will be available to print in your FMA Profile after credits have been reported. Certificates will no longer be mailed.
