“Navigating Florida’s Medical Landscape” is a restream of CME Track 1 held during the FMA 2024 Annual Meeting. This restream will help you maintain your Florida medical license and address key issues that affect Florida-licensed physicians.

Registrants will have access to the recording until midnight on Monday, Jan. 27, by registering before 5 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 17. Access to the recording includes the ability to interact with presenters of the courses by emailing your questions to events@flmedical.org.

  • 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. | Florida Laws, Rules & Ethics (1 credit)
    This session, required for osteopathic physicians licensed in Florida, is intended to demystify Florida's physician licensure and regulatory process and to highlight the top legal and ethical issues currently affecting Florida-licensed physicians. Allopathic physicians who complete this course can earn general CME credit.

  • 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. | Prevention of Medical Errors (2 credits)
    This session features the mandatory content required by the Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine for prevention of medical errors, including root cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, patient safety, and the most commonly mis-diagnosed conditions identified by the two Boards.

  • 12:15 - 12:45 p.m. | Lunch Break

  • 12:45 - 2:45 p.m. | Controlled Substance Prescribing (2 credits)
    This session fulfills the CME requirement for Florida-licensed MDs and DOs who are registered with the DEA and authorized to prescribe controlled substances. The course will highlight updated and new prescribing laws and rules; emphasize the current standards for prescribing controlled substances, particularly opiates; review alternatives to opiates, including nonpharmacological options; and address the risks of opioid addiction following all stages of treatment in the management of acute pain.

  • 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. | Domestic Violence (2 credits)
    This session fulfills the renewal requirement (two credits every six years) for allopathic and osteopathic physicians licensed in Florida. The content is intended to remind physicians that sometimes the little things they do in everyday practice, like detailed documentation and simple screenings, can make a huge difference in the lives of patients.

Two Ways To Access Event:

  1. Event reminder emails will be sent from Florida Medical Association (customercare@gotowebinar.com), which will include a JOIN WEBINAR link, one week, one day, and one hour before the event begins.

OR

  1. Go to www.flmedical.org. At the top of the page, click on Profile. Sign in with your username (email) and password.
  2. Under the Profile Menu header, locate the blue section containing profile options. Click the orange Event Access/Claim CME tab. (example shown above)
  3. Click the Access Webinar link listed next to the webinar title.
  4. Slides and/or supporting documents will be provided in the handouts section of the webinar, if available.

Post-Event:

  1. Go to www.flmedical.org. At the top of the page, click on Profile. Sign in with your username (email) and password.
  2. Under the Profile Menu header, locate the blue section containing profile options. Click the orange Event Access/Claim CME tab. (example shown above)
  3. Access to the recording will be available within 24 hours of the event conclusion until Monday, January 27.
  4. Course Handouts link for slides and/or supporting documents will be listed next to the event, if available.

Claiming CME Credit:

  1. Log in to your FMA account profile and click the Event Access/Claim CME tab in the blue menu. (example shown above)
  2. Click the event's Claim CME Credit hyperlink.
  3. All CME credits will be reported on your behalf to CE Broker by January 29, after the January 27 deadline.
  4. NEW FEATURE - CME Certificates will be available to print in your FMA Profile after credits have been reported. Certificates will no longer be mailed.
Directions For Initial Registration
  1. Sign In (you may already be signed in if you clicked a link from an FMA email)
  2. Click the green Register Myself button below
  3. Click the blue Add button next to the CME or event item(s) to include in your registration 
  4. Click the green Proceed to Checkout button(bottom of page) and finalize your purchase on the next page by clicking the green Submit Order button
  5. You will receive an order confirmation email after successfully completing check out.
