Women In Medicine: Kay Hanley, MD
In 1989, Kay Hanley, MD, became the first woman installed as President of the FMA. Her groundbreaking leadership was a powerful inspiration and represented a bold new chapter in healthcare and organized medicine. The words Dr. Hanley spoke in her Presidents Address ring just as true today as they did when she spoke them thirty-five years ago; “Mistakes of the past are past. We have been tested; the testing will continue. We have survived and have been energized by adversity. Soon we will begin to flourish.”
Women In Medicine Month
September is the American Medical Association's (AMA) Women in Medicine Month, created to recognize the growing number of women in the profession. The FMA is proud to celebrate the contributions and achievements of women in medicine and work to empower the next generation of women who will influence the future of healthcare in Florida.
