Medical license renewal update
If you are renewing your Florida medical license in January 2027, please act now to ensure that you’re up to date on your background screening requirements. Effective July 1, 2025, Florida-licensed physicians must comply with background screening requirements when renewing their medical licenses.

- Log in to the Florida Clearinghouse (CHAI)
Visit https://chai.flclearinghouse.com/ and create an account or log in.
- Check your fingerprint status
Review your fingerprint retention expiration date and determine whether further action is needed.
- Verify your fingerprints can be shared
If your fingerprints were previously submitted through an employer, confirm they are retained and available to share with the Florida Board of Medicine.
- Complete any required action
If your fingerprints are expired, are not on file, or cannot be shared with the Board, additional screening or fingerprinting may be required.
