One life is too many

Every year on Sept. 17, medical societies across the country come together to support National Physician Suicide Awareness Day (#NPSADay). We must prioritize physicians’ well-being and address the underlying issues that often discourage physicians from seeking mental healthcare and support when they need it, today and every day.

The FMA is committed to physician well-being and normalizing discussions about mental health in medicine. Physicians have one of the highest rates of death by suicide among any profession, and we are here to provide the resources and support physicians need to cope in a crisis.

Each year the FMA partners with The Physicians Foundation to share tools and resources that will help raise awareness and take action to prevent physician suicide.
