This panel-based CME symposium will examine the effects of “long COVID” in adult patients and “MIS-C” in pediatric patients, briefly discuss the impact that the pandemic has had on disease prevention and health promotion efforts, and provide a forward-looking picture of shifting health policy and clinical adaptations being made to get patients back on track to better health.

Track 3 - 3 CME Credits
To increase value in health care, the medical community has intensified its focus on potentially preventable health care events, like emergency department visits for issues that could be evaluated and managed in an ambulatory clinic, hospital admissions for avoidable conditions, iatrogenic complications related to hospitalization including polypharmacy or hospital-acquired pneumonia, return hospitalizations, and redundant ancillary services such as lab tests or MRI for mild low back pain. Identifying patients at risk for these events is challenging for physicians, especially when considering the population size of most physician practices and the impact of social deprivations that can result from adhering to prescribed treatments and clinic follow-up. To meet this challenge, new information technologies enable physicians to prioritize their time and intervene earlier with patients who are at higher risk for requiring more intensive health care. In this CME symposium, physician panelists will explain and share specific examples that reveal how they have harnessed information technologies to improve the well-being and health care of the populations they serve.
